In short: Yumi is a companion app, not care. The subscription is taken out and cancelled in the App Store, never with us. The grounding exercise stays free for life, subscription or not.
1. What Yumi is
Yumi is a mobile app for anxious moments, built around a virtual creature. It offers guided breathing, a grounding exercise, a written conversation, calming sounds, colourings, prayers and a personal journal.
It is published by MXCOMPANION, a French SAS with share capital of €5,000, registered with the Trade and Companies Register of Dunkerque under number 991 918 681, whose registered office is at 28 rue de Gascogne, 59492 Hoymille. 2. What Yumi is not
Yumi is not a medical device and provides no care. Yumi makes no diagnosis, offers no treatment, and replaces neither a doctor, nor a psychologist, nor a psychiatrist, nor any professional care.
Yumi’s replies are generated automatically. They may be inaccurate or ill-suited to your situation, and must never be taken for professional advice.
If you are in distress or in immediate danger, contact an emergency service: 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK, 112 anywhere in Europe. For suicide prevention: 988 in the US and Canada, 116 123 in the UK and Ireland. The app shows the helpline matching your country.
3. No account
Yumi asks for no sign-up, no username, no password. You are responsible for access to your own phone: anyone who unlocks it can read your notebook and your journal, since they are stored locally on it.
4. The subscription
- Three plans are offered: one week, one month, one year. Only the yearly plan includes a seven-day free trial.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can cancel at any time from Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone. We have no way of cancelling for you.
- If you cancel during the free trial, nothing is charged.
The prices shown in the app are the ones that apply and may vary by country. Any price change will be notified to you by Apple before it takes effect.
5. Refunds
Purchases go entirely through the App Store: refund requests are made to Apple, via reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not receive your payment directly and cannot refund you ourselves.
6. What stays free
The sensory grounding exercise remains free to use, for life, including without a subscription and once the trial is over. That is a choice: nobody should hit a paywall at the moment it rises.
7. Your content
What you write in your notebook and your journal belongs to you. We have no access to it: those texts do not leave your phone. We claim no rights over them, and we can neither read them, nor retrieve them, nor restore them.
Messages sent in the conversation pass through our server to produce a reply, as explained in the privacy policy.
8. Reasonable use
The conversation is capped at twenty messages a day. You agree not to try to work around that limit, not to reverse-engineer the app, and not to use it to produce illegal or harmful content.
9. Our share of liability
The app is provided “as is”. We do our best to keep it running without interruption, without being able to guarantee it: a network outage or an outage of our servers can prevent the conversation or the downloading of sounds.
We cannot be held liable for any use of the app contrary to these terms, nor for a decision taken on the basis of what the creature says. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
10. Changes
These terms may change along with the app. The date at the top of the page shows the last update. Continuing to use Yumi after a change counts as acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first: write to us before anything else — we always try to settle things directly.
12. Language
These terms are a translation of the French original, which alone is legally binding. In the event of any discrepancy between the two versions, the French version prevails.
13. Apple’s agreement
As the subscription is bought on the App Store, it is also governed by Apple’s standard end-user licence agreement: read it.
